Chelsea sheepishly allowed Brazilian winger, Willian to run down his contract and leave for Arsenal on a free after seven years at the club.
Willian was reportedly willing to stay at Chelsea but wanted a 3-year contract of which Chelsea were only willing to give him two.
At the end, he left for their North London rivals Arsenal on a 3-year deal worth in the region of £220,000 with an option for one more year and has carried on his last season form into the new season at Arsenal.
Willian demonstrated his importance and what is to come from him this season as he produced two assists as Arsenal won their 2020-2021 first league match 3:0 against Premier League newcomers, Fulham.
Chelsea in the other hand, has signed good players as they are the most active European team this season after spending more than £200 million o God new arrivals.
With Frank Lampard knowing too well that much pressure will be on him after such extravagant spending, the questions still remain will allowing Willian to head to Arsenal come back to hunt them?
